An expansive 677 acre family farm out in the Lucia Valley, it is not only a great setting for the pumpkin patch every year but also for rustic weddings on the farm.

Visiting A Vintage Gathering 2013

At last! Another Vintage Gathering came and went. And, while waiting for it to come again this year, a lot changed with them and in my world. This last year, A Vintage Gathering opened a store front in downtown Battle Ground, WA. And, this year, they held their summer-time outdoor gathering in the gravel lot next to them. I think some may have preferred the sale to be in the field where it used to be held but I thought it was great where it was. Right in the heart of old town Battle Ground on Main street, it was perfectly placed for all the locals to see while out and about on their Saturday. 

Speaking of locals..... this last year, friends of mine moved from Portland to Battle Ground and are making their new little town their own. I didn't even get a chance to invite my friend, Bethany (pictured above), to the sale as she already knew about it and invited me! As I showed up to the gathering to meet up with her, she greets me with this interesting find. Can you guess what she is holding up?

Jenny (and her mom) had some lovely treasures at their booth, Simple Treasures. Local ladies, they travel around to different gatherings held on weekends during the summer and local bazaars in the fall/winter. 

 

I loved this cute little garden cart of theirs. 

This lovely space, Redoux, by Sue Simula had beautiful furniture pieces. Crisp whites, simply wonderful home accessories and the occasional fleur de lis definitely caught my eye. You can find more of her beautiful pieces at Rusty Glamour, also in downtown Battle Ground.

Cheryl of The Stitchin' Chicken had some drool-worthy pillows, I must say! And, oh, the table runners and towels.... just lovely! Inside A Vintage Gathering, even more treasures awaited the sun-soaked shoppers. One little shelf that I hope you consider stopping to look at is my friend Karyn's new business adventure of this last year. Karyn's new line of skin care and pure essential oils, Fit2B on Your Skin, offers a wide variety of products. From skin care and facial products to essential oil blends like, Shield-Daily Immune Defense, which has come to be a must-have in my home. 

So, there it is folks, another Vintage Gathering in the books! If you want a lovely summer-time adventure of your own, there will be another Vintage Gathering September 6th & 7th! So bring a friend (or two) and your pocket book and stop by our little town of Battle Ground, WA. I think you will have a grand ole' time checking out all the wonderful treasures and maybe get to stop a smell the weeds. Uh, I mean beautiful road side flowers picked by my little treasure, Lauren, just for me!

Life... busy, busy life

Hello All! I couldn't believe how long it's been since I wrote last when I logged in! Life...busy, busy life. That's the reason. Lots going on lately. I have been getting ready for the Pick Pocket Molly Event. A weekend consignment sale of women's clothing. I consign items {this year over 130 items!}for sale at the event but I also work at it with my friend, Alice, who puts it on! Man, she can put on a great event! Also, I got a very part time job. I am an Operations Assistant with Fit2B Studio. It is an online gym with a workout video library of over 50 videos and she also is trying to spread Diastasis awareness. I love that I can work from home and help a friend grow her business while she works from home! And then there is all the everyday, in-and-out's of a stay-at-home mommy of two young children. Household chores, gardening to do, birthday parties to attend, meals to cook, friends to connect with, basketball to watch { : D }, church to attend, parties to host, small town parades to participate in, workouts to do, wife to be to husband, sunshine to enjoy. It's a good {and busy} life that I love to be living. I try to remember how blessed I am and not take it for granted. At the end of the day, I may be tired and may not get to lay in the hammock like I wanted but I wouldn't trade it in.

Kool-Aid cups and Memories

Last summer while visiting A Vintage Gathering*, I saw this Kool-Aid set for sale and oh man did it bring back memories. I can't remember if we even had the set but that doesn't matter. It brought back memories of mixing the Kool-Aid in the kitchen with my brother helping. It brought back memories of summer time, playing in the yard, laughing with friends. I seem to recall that the cups and pitcher changed color too. Oh, and those commercials of the big Kool-Aid man. Out of all the wonderful vintage treasures at the sale, this......

this set made me stop, remember simple moments in life and smile. This is why I love these sales, vintage and antique shops and such: 

For what they remind us of in the past so we know what to treasure in our present and future.

Small Business Review ~ 2nd Bloom

This year I am going to promote one local small business a month. I love checking out new businesses and supporting our local economy. I hope that you enjoy hearing about these local small businesses and that it encourages you to think twice about where you spend your hard earned dollars. Why am I doing this? Because these entrepreneurs are pouring their hearts and souls, time and energy, dreams and ambitions, into these wonderful little businesses to hopefully provide for their families while doing something they enjoy. Let's help them provide for their families and our local economy and at the same time, fulfill their dreams that give us a wonderful (and sometimes unique) shopping experience.    

 For my first small business review, I picked 2nd Bloom. I found this wonderful little business at the Camas Vintage Street Faire last summer. Located in downtown Vancouver, this shop is open Tues.-Sat. They have gifts that are new and vintage in styles that are shabby chic, modern, country and more. I loved the variety of gifts that they sell. I came home with a beautiful necklace and a set of eight vintage looking, french inspired folders, all of which I absolutely love! The ladies are so sweet and passionate about what they are doing. It was a great shopping experience and I look forward to going back. One thing I noticed throughout this shop was sets of wings. Small sets; large sets; framed sets. They are beautiful and inspiring to look at. I don't know if they have a special meaning to the ladies of 2nd Bloom but I found this quote and thought it fitting. It takes hard work and courage to give your dreams wings and I want to help them (and all the other entrepreneurs) in make their dreams  S O A R.

Visiting A Vintage Gathering

Well, I finally made it to one of the vintage gatherings. I have driven past it the last couple years, always on my way to some other commitment, frustrated because I couldn't stop. Not this year! And boy was it fun! I wish I had had more time to stay and look around, really take it all in, but I had my two little ones and when they are ready to go, everyone knows it.

In my short time though I did get some pictures and met some of the great vendors. Everyone was so nice and the selection of products was unbelievable.  One dresser my mom was looking at only lasted about five minutes and it was sold off to a new home.

And although I did not come home this time with any treasures, you can be sure I will try to next time! I have the bug now and there is no looking back. Maybe some day I will be one of the vendors getting my picture taken. hmmm....!
